Balloons 101

Helium normally lasts 6 to 24 hours in latex balloons, depending on weather conditions.  Mylar or metallic balloons usually last for a week up to a month or longer.  Sunny and hot days, will cause latex balloons with helium to expand, resulting in even the best quality balloons bursting.  Cold will cause balloons to shrink but will expand back to normal size in warmer temperature.  All helium is controlled by our government, and is industrial quality and strength.  Latex balloons can last for an extended period of time with a non-toxic liquid sealer put inside the balloon called high-float.  It coats the inner wall of the balloon and keeps the helium from leaking out through the pores of the latex balloon.  Balloons with high-float can last 3 days to possibly a month, generally a week.  This depends on the conditions were the balloons are used.
